my check engine light and vsc light came on now my engine started over heating what is the problem

what is the vcs ligth come on go off when start each time but now it will not go off

same thing just happened to my 2001 GS300. I was driving home and my temp gauge was way up in the red. Than all of a sudden it dropped to below cold. I heard clicking sounds my engine started overheating and the check engine VSC and VSC Off lights came on. Any solution yet?
