Knocking engine Lexus ES300

Asked by Apr 18, 2017 at 12:14 PM about the 2001 Lexus ES 300 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car overheated. We replace the radiator
and water pump. When we turned the car
on a knocking noise in the engine came
about. We checked my car's dashboard
and no check engine light is on, but the oil
light was. So we checked the oil and the oil
was good. Fair amount and the oil didn't
look milky as if water or anything got into
it. I have 0 leaks on my car and it runs
smoothly. Why is my engine knocking?

If it got too hot you could have damaged a piston or warped the block in one of the cylinders. No conclusive answer to this one until it is torn down to find out what happened.
