98 Audi a4 automatic 2.8L Stalls while driving then won't move while in gear
Ok so i have a car im half sure of what might be the issue. Basically the car gets up to speed no weird noises it just stalls then after restart it runs fine but when engaging the trany in any position it won't move. its either the trany computer im figuring or the range sensor any idea's? im going to scan it now and will post the scan when i get home.
New Update. Went over to check the car out sound puzzles me. Jacked the car up and had all four wheels off the ground, While the engine is in drive and weather the wheels are moving on either side or not there is a loose sound like a bearing ball is rolling around in the transmission catching and letting go. Car made a very loud sound like a muffler dropping out before stalling and letting the person pull off to the side of the road. (tow truck apparently had issues pulling it onto flat bed said wheels were locked but i am positive the back wheels were not) Person in question also had the abs pump look like it may have exploded but showed no signs of leaks when pressing the peddle while running or shut down with full peddle depression. Some of the things i know were replaced before this, Main drive shaft to rear(used), new passenger axel but was damaged due to bad dif bearing in passenger side of trany, new rear seals and new fluid and filter. My only thought is maybe the cv joint has gone bad at the trany side but it shows no signs of looseness. My other thought is maybe a bolt or one of my lost sockets slipped into the hole where the fly wheel is and is catching and rolling on the fly wheel. Other then that im going to have the main shaft checked and the trany fluid checked for metal parts.
The entire passenger side dif was also replaced with one from the wreckers since i could not find bearings for it which became available after i had done the work :S
