Temperamental fan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee special edition 4.0L 6
About 2 summers ago my fan went out, brought it
to the shop and had it replaced. I also replaced the
2 relays in the Bo under the hood and the water
pump. About a month ago fan went out due to the
fan connector was melting and preventing
continuity. I spliced a new connector and was able
to take my girls on a camping trip and drove it hard
and the fan would come on when needed and turn
off when needed all was good. The following week
the fan stopped again. I have replaced the
thermostat, checked for coolant leaks, replaced
the coolant temperature sensor and tested the fan
with jumpers and the fan does in fact run when
energized. My mechanic said the fan is getting
power and yet it fails to get signal when to turn on.
The relays appear to be fine but I don't have a way
to test tjem, but they look clean and no sign of a
short. Is there something I am possibly missing? I
am not getting any codes on my display when I try
to pull them. Everything else seems to be working.
I have also heard about a possible coolant level
sensor? Could this be the cause possibly?
