New alternator won't work

Asked by Aug 26, 2016 at 05:19 PM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: General

My batter gauge went down to barely nothing
yesterday. Called AAA, said, battery dead because
alternator was shot. New alternator installed and
battery charged. Alternator showing no volts.

Start the vehicle and have the voltage at the battery terminals measured. The voltage should be roughly 13.0 to 15.0, if it is under 13.0 the alternator or the wiring from the alternator to the battery is likely the problem.
