What causes high pressure in the engine?

Asked by Mar 03, 2014 at 08:06 PM about the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a brand new radiator, but high pressure caused coolant leak under the radiator
hose clamp. Our mechanic found high pressure, tightened up clamp and checked head
gasket as reason for high pressure, but did not detect any leaking. Car is not overheating.

Define "high pressure". Modern cooling systems operate at around 15 PSI at normal operating temperature (195°F). HTH. -Jim
