rpms race up and down and then shuts off

Asked by GuruKB65J Dec 07, 2019 at 09:01 AM about the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: General

after installing new (cheap) battery the rpms jump up and down and it turns off when I slow down or stop.  Also new cables. Not getting enough power on acceleration.  Could it be the Econo battery not strong enough?
