Clunk and squeal. What more can i do to fix you?
I have a 95 orvis 5.2L AWD 4Lx4H. I have spent somewhere in the area of over $4,000
trying to fix my problem. I have a clink from the front end when i turn and when i go
over bumps, but no death wobble. Also my left rear tire seems to drag and squeal when
making sharp right turns, mostly in parking garages. I also get a service 4 wheel drive
switch message from time to time, becoming more frequent. I have the new switch.
However I can't find where it goes on the transfer case.
Things I have done to my jeep are:
Springs, shocks, and struts all the way around. New tires and wheels. T-R, T-B, Drag
Link, Steering box, Rear sway bar, Brakes, motor mounts, Trans mounts.
Things not related to my problem that I have fixed:
New radiator, New fan, Fan clutch, New water pump and pulley, Rear seal. main seal.
new exhaust from tip to tail, and of course all the hoses, plugs, and fluids.
Whenever I change something out the clunk and the squeal seem to go away for a
while. But they always come back. I am starting to think my jeep is an attention whore
All the bushings are good. I know that my CV boots are going to need changed soon. I
had it in deep snow.
So is there anything that I have not thought of to try? I do all my work my self. But I am
stumped on these ones. Any advice?
Are you sure it is suspension related? Have you checked fender and body mounts? How about a frame crack? Just tossing things out there you might want to look closely at.
