Fuel pump

How do I know if my fuel pump is bad I took the
fuel filter off and tested it and I can blow through it
and it's fine but when I go to crank my car it won't
it's not picking up fuel

Once it sits for a few minutes it'll crank but just spit and sputter and then die. Can't drive it at all.

Poured since gas in that carburetor looking thing and it would crank. I can hear the fuel pump prime but it's like it's not getting gas

Sounds like a bad fuel pump, but to be sure you get a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure.

You should have 38 to 42 lbs. fuel pressure, and at an idle it can be as low as 31 lbs.

Ya your gonna need help since the fuel pump is in the gas tank.

Okay I took the fuel filter off put a new one on but first before I put it on I turn my key and it pumps gas switch tells me that the fuel pump is working put the new fuel filter on and it's still not picking up the gas in the tank to start my Jeep

Sounds like you need that fuel pump.

Nope fixed it. It was the fuel filter. Put gas in that carburetor thingy and took a few times but we got it running. Thank goodness. It's fine now. $12.84 fix plus all the hours we spent trying different things. I'm just a girl but I'm learning good. Thank you for your input, I appreciate you answering me....
