Keeps not starting

Asked by GuruYX3M5 Mar 04, 2018 at 05:57 PM about the 2000 Audi A8 quattro AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So every time i get in my car and try to start it up, it does
it and like my lights turn on still and my radio turns on but
when i ten the key all the way it tries to turn on all the way
but it barely does and i tap on the gas to give it more juice
or whatever and it still doesn’t work. So i have to sit for
like 30 minutes then try again and this time i give it more
power by having my foot on the gas pressed down and i
start it then idk it starts. I get scared turning it off and it
not working again. Idk what to do, the guy i bought it from
said it was fine. Maybe i need more transmission fluid he
said but that’s all he said to me so idk what to do

Turn off your lights, turn off the radio when you start the car!!. Your battery is low. It may jump, using cables and a friends car. Ask for help don't attempt this yourself. Then buy some jumper cables and put them in your trunk. Have someone show you how to clean the connections on your battery. It may charge... if you have or know someone with a charger. You may need a new battery.

It has nothing to do with transmission fluid. Please tell us the year of the car. I kind of doubt pushing the accelerator 'giving it more juice' (fuel) is helping. Turn everything off. Lights, radio , vanity mirror light. You are.killing your battery.

all things are pointing to a battery that is no longer producing enough cranking amps after siting.
