what does it mean if my abs lite came on after getting a new axle

Might be the wheel sensor wasn't plugged back in, have the shop that replaced it. make good on their work.

Could be they ordered and installed the wrong axle and used one with no Brake sensor ring on it or they cracked the sensor ring

Basically, there are 4 ABS sensors (one at each wheel). Diagnose it with an OBD reader (at trusted workshop) to pinpoint which sensor is down. Oh, do check if there is/are any loose sensor connections too.
