2003 Hyundai Santa Fe LX Issues

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got a hyundai santa fe 2003 with 180,283 miles on it, and whenever you start it for
the first time, you have to goose the gas to get it to fire up. Once started if you don't keep
goosing it for a bit, it dies right away. Once it is running it is fine though.
Also, the sunroof opens fine, but when you press the closing buttons nothing happens. If
you restart the car then the closing buttons work, but only for a few seconds then you
have to restart again.
Any help would be much appreciated

I would suggest changing the fuel filter, and if that doesn't help, have the fuel pressure tested. and it sounds like maybe the switch to your sunroof is bad.

The start & run problem could also be caused by a bad valve in the emissions controls, under the truck. There is a check valve that can act up and cause this. I would agree with the first answer as a good starting place for correcting this, but even before that check the car for any stored trouble codes in memory to see if there is a cause listed there, it's easy and free to do at an auto parts store. If none are found, start with the filter since they are rarely changed anywhere as often as they should be.
