Asked by Mar 20, 2016 at 05:41 AM about the 2001 Audi TT 1.8T 225hp quattro Coupe AWD

Question type: General

Hi we got a audi tt was fine on long drive bk home
after a day started it and it's making a tick tick
ticking noise from engine please help

1 Answer

this is normal in older cars with higher miles. The noise is the lifters sticking. There is not much you can do about it aside from maybe some slick 50 full synthetic from each oil change.its what i did with my 98 audi. The only other option is to service the heads. And keep an eye out for any gauge problems. The tt's were very bad for failing dash clusters.
