Power seat

Asked by Aug 08, 2016 at 12:14 PM about the 2005 GMC Yukon XL 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had work done on my Yukon XL.
Now the driver's power seat works
differently - up is down and down is up. I
was told nothing was done to electrical
components. Gas pump was replaced.
This change does not make sense. Can
someone tell me why this would happen?

Programming error in the BCM, did they unhook the battery when the fuel pump was put in, as that can cause all kinds of malfunctions on this rig. Before any electrical work is done on one of these a preset saver must be used or the factory presets can either be completely wiped or a bunch of error start to show up the accessories like you power seat. If this is the case your only option is the dealer to have it reflashed. See pic for tool.

Thanks for your information. I don't know if you saw my post about my gas gauge, but could disconnecting the battery also cause the gas gauge to be a little off? Gauge shows I could probably pump several more gallons but gas pump will not allow it.

Yes, the BCM has control of all accessories, mirrors, radio, seats, heater, etc.

I have an 05 Yukon and when the shop went to replace the battery they didn't use the little tool, and none of my accessories would work, no radio, seats wipers nothing, it did start and run, so the shop paid for their mistake and had the Dealer reflash my system at no charge to me, after that everything worked again.
