trying to figure out why the car is hard to start and then dies when you step on the gas
peddal. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also I am going to replace spark plugs, but
can't find the correct gap. either 028 or 032, anyone know?

the spark plugs come pre gapped so if your messing with them when your installing them thats all on you for issues. I would suggest getting the really good platinum plugs from bosch with the 4 points. Its a bit pricy but if your going to use something those are the best ones for that engine. As for the dieing when you hit hte gas peddle that is either a cloged air filter or maf sensor, crank case hoses or fuel pressure regulator. It could also be a cloged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. I would replace the fuel filter tho regardless if you have not had it done in over a year and especialy if you been running low octane gas in your car. Premium or higher gas only in audis and vw's
