Cup holder removal.. Two screws one under each rubber disc at base of cup holder.. Remove the screws.. And then pull straight up on cup holder.. Part of console will come with it there should be a red loop just under there .. Pull to open boot

I don't have cup holders, but a friend found out where it is. Its in the central piece between both seats towards the back seats under a little hatch. I would never have found it in a million years. Thanks anyway

2004 Mk1 3.2 coupe. Had same problem - dead battery so no electrical way of opening boot to get to battery to charge it. Really difficult trying to slide your (great big) hand between parcel shelf and seat back to release seat so that I could remove boot floor to get to battery. Should have looked on internet for solution to problem. Easy! Little spring-loaded cover on transmission tunnel between seats. Press sides and it comes off very simply. Small red loop is manual boot release as described elsewhere. Now I know! Audi Norwich completely unhelpful. Only suggestion they had was to ring Audi Roadside Assistance!
