Did you also change the fuel filter and the fuel pump relay?

I did not change the relay because the new pump is working I did change the filter though I have good pressure coming up to the intake manifold

Is it possible that there could be air trapped in the line ?

The air should bleed out rather quickly on this system, usually cycling the key a few times will do it, you might want to check the fuel pressure to see if the new pump is up to specs, it is not uncommon that it may have the wrong pump for your engine. I have had this happen to me a number times even when replacing the complete unit the pressures are wrong.

I will check that and see I hope it is right but with my luck I will have to go through and pull the tank all over again Lol thank you for your advise I will let you know what I find out

You may want to consider replacing the pressure regulator also just because of the age of the unit. On my Tahoe that I had it was only 30 days after I had replaced the fuel pump that the regulator went bye bye, just a thought.
