Asked by Sep 02, 2015 at 10:55 PM about the 2004 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro

Question type: General

I have a 2006 subaru outback with 202k miles on it. Got offered to trade for a
2004 audi a4 1.8t with $800 on top. Car had a engine swap so body has 190
and new engine has 100k. Is this a goo deal? or should i be concerned about
the engine swap.....  the new engine is a 1.8t VW which i believe are the same.
Please help! thanks!

Kelly is just saying he wouldn't do it, it's really hard to know the full extent of the deal with looking and driving both cars. Internet values for your Outback are saying the car is worth around $3000 if it's in good condition. The Audi is worth around $2500 if in good condition with 100K miles. You do the math.

I won't do it.... And first of All Volkswagen didn't came with a AMB and that's the engine you need for the 04 audi. I can imagine the kind of rigged :-( I believe they are giving you B.S I'm sure the car has the factory engine. Check what's the engine code and reply. Standard or automatic? 2006 Subaru is a keeper.

He told me it was done by a mechanic because the car had a blown motor when it hit 150K so the 1.8t VW engine was put in and said they are the exact same and not to worry. hmm, I got a chance to drive the car and it drove great. My concern was, if im going into this deal and opening a big can of worms with a car that had major things done to it. Thank you so much for all your guys help.
