I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 that I brought through the car wash. I was able to drive about 100 feet before it started running rough and stalled out. Turns over but won't start.

Asked by Jan 03, 2015 at 11:35 AM about the 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 4WD Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I tried to hook up the scan tool to the
truck, it wouldn't communicate with the
computer. So I took it out and inspected it,
no signs of water damage,  or broken/green
wire. Also when the truck would start, it
sounded like it wasn't getting fuel/not
running on all cylinders.  There is a braided
wire hanging off the frame behind the cab
on the drivers side. Could not find what it
goes to.

Check your fuses. Something must have got wet and shorted out. The braided wire probably goes to one of the oxygen sensors. The braiding is an insulator to protect the wire from extreme heat. As can be found with the exhaust system. HTH. -Jim
