changing trans fluid

Asked by Sep 02, 2010 at 12:31 PM about the 1990 Ford Tempo 4 Dr GL Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drained the trany fuid (manual tran) and now want to refill. I am not sure how to add the fluid. I assume that there is a plug and that it may need to be pumped in? Also read that new fluid in an old trans may do more harm than good (has about 80,000 miles on it). Should I just put the old stuff back in?

there should be another plug higher on the trans, thats where u had new fluid, fill untill even with fill plug.and new fluid will help your tranny not hurt it.
