You're Dad is remembering the days of carbureated engines. Pumping the gas pedal on a fuel injected engine does absolutely nothing. Check the wiring down by the starter AFTER disconnecting the negative (-) battery cable. Sounds like something that's hot touched something metal like the exhaust manifold. The "pop" that you heard was most likely the arc when it touched. Once you're sure that nothing is touching anything metal check all of your fuses. I bet when the "pop" happened one or more fuses blew. HTH. -Jim

I replaced the starter and it started great but ran like crap. Took out the spark plugs and they where fald out bad. Did I also say he hasn't changed the plugs or wires in. 4 years. After I put the new wires and plugs in it will not start. Just turns over and over. I checked the spark on number one plug I have fire it's a 4.3 V6

Do you have fuel and compression? -Jim

Yea great in both area
