Check for transmission codes, repair any codes. If no codes then a trip to a transmission shop for testing is needed. Might be bad shift solenoids.

could be your computer had the same problem and a hard shift. trans shop told me it was the transmission

I am replacing the timing chain and gears on my 96 GMC 1500 5.0L. 305 if I want to change the cam should I do all of it a the same time. I am also going to replace some of the gaskets to hopefully get a few more miles out of of the motor that has 400000 miles. Can you suggest anything else to help me to get a few more miles without doing a rebuild. 1 Answer
