having hard time getting truck into gear (drive) from park. Is the brake pedal switch adjustable?

Asked by Aug 23, 2014 at 01:16 AM about the 1996 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SLE Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I suspect the brake pedal position switch or the one that tells the truck you have foot on the brake pedal. Is this switch adjustable?

That is tied into the brake lights, so,if the brake lights work so should the release unit for the shifter, if not it could be the unit itself or a broken circuit.
