1996 GMC motor running ruff. What could be wrong with it

Asked by Dec 02, 2013 at 09:42 PM about the 1996 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SL Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck starts fine. But when you try and rev it up. It gets to about 2500rpm and stalls.
Starts acting like it is starving for fuel. Then it will start popping thru the throttle body it
sounds like. I changed the plugs, wires, and rotor. That did not make a difference . Any
help would be appreciated.

with an aged vehicle...there's bound to be come carbon restricting the action of the EGR valve (which is supposed to open up to COOL combustion temperatures when they get TOO hot)...and to snuffle the exhaust gas back in on decel...well yours don't know when to quit...like adjusts 300 times a second so it's gotta be slow on the draw...take it off and clean it with a small wirebrush and some carb cleaner....or just buy a new one and put it on~ http://www.partsgeek.com/mparts/egr_valve/gmc.html

you know these black butyl rubber hoses they use are chewing gum and coal tar...spend ten times more and replace these bloated and cracking hoses with silicone which will NEVER leak~ it's easy, just take 'em one at a time~

Ok guys I replaced the plugs, rotor, wires, fuel filter, map sensor, cleaned EGR valve, cleaned all ground wires, all vacuum hoses, and still does not run any better. Any ideals?
