How do you put a 1995 305 engine back in time afterthe timing chain jumped a cog. After the removing the timimg change, the crankshaft got turned, not sure how much. but the distributor is off by at least by a quarter turn. Thanks Jerry
You need to get the motor to TDC on the #1 cylinder after the compression stroke. You may need to pop the valve cover off to verify that the intake valve closes after the down stroke and no valves open coming up. Use something non-metallic to ensure the piston reaches TDC. Rotate the crank 180 if your at the wrong TDC. (Your timing marks should line up for the proper TDC). Then pull the top of the dist off. You'll want it pointing at the wire going to the #1 spark plug. Pull and re-mesh the dist on the cam gear as required. Just remember that you may have to roll the motor over by hand to get the dist to engage the oil pump drive, just put the motor back to TDC after the engagement to verify your still on the right cam tooth. Then your can button everything up and adjust your advance with a light.
