I have a 95 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd 5.0 engine. when i crack it up and put it in drive or reverse it shuts off. what can cause this? I checked the vaccum hoses they are all fine.

If motor revs, up fine with out being in gear,check transmission,may be low fluid,or going bad.
