what would keep it from going into reverse r nutrel?

Could be linkage is off does it line up in all other gears when u shift through them

Agree with jeremy,but if it go,s in to drive,it may be the transmission is bad.

Has anyone checked the fluid level? I have seen the problem when the fluid is low. By adding fluid, the problem went away. If the fluid is good then you may need a transmission mechanic, which of course, ain't cheap..
