Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ticking noise at start-up. Sounds like valve noise, but goes away when warmed up. Checked oil level which was fine.

The most likely cause would be an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks sound just like a bad lifter, and usually get quiet after engine warms up and everything expands. Check exhaust donuts.

I have the same problem with my 2004 Envoy XL. Did you find out what the problem was?
