1991 ford ranger has spark and fuel wont start

I have had this truck for nearly 18 yrs has a 6 inch drop in nose 4 in rear beautiful body put in new fuel pump has no intake leaks new battery a ton of spark but you need to give it a shot of starting fluid or gas in intake boot to get to start after that it runs perfect but if you were to stall it or turn off it might start back up or not but one shot of fluid in the throttle body it fires right back up I am at a lose truck is beautiful but not trust worthy any help would be great
