If you removed oil drain plug and removed filter and only one quart came out you have a lot of slugg in oil pan just recently had the same problem with an oil change I was doing. Had to stick a screwdriver into oil drain hole to break up slugg then oil started to pour out.

Also would recommend doing another oil change within 2 weeks to a month and add a engine flush to clean out motor.

Are you saying that you only drained one quart of oil from your vehicle and you checked it and it said it was still full and you added five more quarts ?

Doh! Dude, on the 5.0L Mustang, there are 2 drain plugs on the oil pan! One in the front sump facing towards the front of the car, and one on the bottom in the back. Sounds like you only removed the front one. SInce you are now overfilled with 9qts of oil, get a big container under the car and remove the bottom plug. No need to remove the front plug. Then add 4qts of new oil once you get the oil plug back in.

Check the level again after a short drive and add as necessary to get the level between the cross hatch marks.
