ford thunderbird,,,, tail light will not come on... replaced bulb, replaced fuses, installed
new light switch,, still no light in rear passenger side, left side works,,, back up lights come on, brake lights work,,, just one side will not light up???????., spent 4 days
working on,,,,,,, what is wrong.
Check bulb socket for power and ground. If one or the other is missing check wiring harness behind bulb for both. If you have both in the harness replace socket. Also inspect socket for a greenish looking tarnish on area that contacts the bulb. If tarnish is visible scrape it clean. Add bulb lube and reinstall bulb.
GROUND....you got it....so much importance on one little grounding stud....all roads lead to paris~...including the body frame and tail light skeleton (which if two wire should not be concerned with ground)....but the chassis...or the Black wire to which the bulb is connected IS connected to this source of ground...also check the age of the battery by looking at the "knock-off" labels indicating the date of the first charge....five is gettin' pretty old and probably would not survive the somewhat destructive three second dead short load test~....get a NEW battery~
Ok.. I have had 3 men look and look and test and test why my 92 ford thunderbird has no tail light,,,, on passenger side,, my back up light comes on,, but no tail light... left side is fine... someone is missing something... anyone know?? Replaced light switch, fuses, bulbs, etc. still does not work.. replace housing , and again replaced bulb.. any thoughts??
Could it be that 30amp fuse???? it has always worked before, and all of a sudden it just went out.. on a 92 ford t-bird you can see me coming a mile down the road in the early morning hours with that tail light out... have break lights, but no tail light, passenger side.Help!!
