I have a 1990 dodge power ram 150 4x4 with a 4speed an a 318. I have a huge crack in the block an I need to replace my engine. Everyone is saying that I cannot use anything that is 93and up. why?
In 92 the 318 was changed to the Magnum and has a new block and heads. I would go with a crate engine in a 340 or 360 if it were me. Crate engines --- http://www.mopar.com/assets/pdf/performance/catalog/Small_Bloc k.pdf
U can use 93 and up u just need the engine harness the trans with the TCM (if 98 and newer) and the ECM I would get the motor mounts as well just to be on the safe side, however if it were my truck being it is 4wd I would really look for a 12valve 5.9l Cummins it is a mechanical engine meaning no ecm and only three wires to hook up plus with the 12v if u want more power from it all u have to do is turn up the fuel screw
Go back with what is in it, best deal.
