Noise when accelerating

Asked by Mar 10, 2016 at 11:16 PM about the 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT

Question type: General

When accelerating I get a fast deep whirring noise. When I resume steady
speed it stops. I am also getting a bit of rough idle. I changed plugs out but it
does the same. It idles at about 650-700 rpm. Any ideas?

Check your belt idlers,and belt.

Standard transmissions? If so better check the fluid and hope it's not too late, a noise like that usually means the bearings are going away. Rough idle could be partially plugged injectors, when was the last good injector cleaning job done?
