Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My PT Cruiser Limited just turned 78000 mile Feb 2015. Runs excellent. Should I change timing belt soon...book says 90000 miles, burt nothing about age?

Age in this case is irrelevant, it's running fine and well under the recommended mileage for replacement, so I'd leave it alone.

As long as the timing belt is not contaminated with something like oil or antifreeze it should last the full mileage, but I am like you especially with what happens if the timing belt breaks on one of these, if it was mine I would just replace it and everything that goes along with it not give it a second thought. My mechanic told me change it at 100,000. If it breaks the engine can seize up.

I just had mine changed at 80,000 + the serpentine belts anf the motor mounts.....little over $1,000.00
