02 Pt Cruiser, pcm replaced, does not always start .

Asked by Oct 12, 2013 at 06:42 AM about the 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine light came on, and had the pcm replaced, after that it does not start on a
consistent basis, we have had it towed to the mechanic, only to have him jump in and
start it the next day no problems.  We have had the keys reprogrammed several times.
and are at a loss.  When it will not start it is dead, and will not even turn over or try. This
car only has 45000 original miles.

Intermittent electrical problems are always a bear to find, this sounds like the problem might lie in the one of the main power circuits or ground as when it happens everything is dead, you might have to wait until it acts up then try the go old wiggle test on the wiring harness starting at the battery, if you lucky then it might just show itself right away. Good luck
