2002 pt cruiser have had aproblem with oil lite coming on when hot at idle as well as the chime going off when it does. The thing is full of oil and doesnt use any. just wondering if the chime will keep going off if I unplug the oil sending unit which I believe to be bad?

just need to know if I can leave the sending unit unplugged without the chime constantly going off?

If I read the diagram correctly if you disconnect the oil pressure sender the light and chime will continuously go off. So no.
