transmission downshifts without warning then will work again after shutting car off and starting again

automatic transmission was recently repaired,will drive fine for awhile then for no apparent
reason will downshift and stay in that mode until we shut car off and start again. it will
work sometimes fine for quite awhile then will downshift again, stay stuck until stopped
and started again. also noticed the automatic door locking mechanism which would
engage after going under way has stopped working

Have the garage that did the trans repair diagnose it for you. Sounds like a sensor failed or a connection came loose.
