1992 4.0 Ford Explorer motor swap

Asked by Jarred Mar 18, 2018 at 07:35 PM about the 1992 Ford Explorer 4 Dr XL 4WD SUV

Question type: Car Customization

This is probably a stupid question..... I have 1992
4.0 Ford Explorer, 5 speed with a blown motor. The
other day I was offered a motor from a 1992 4.0
Ford Aerostar. I was wondering if those motors
would be interchangeable?

It is the same engine in the Aerostar Extended Passenger van. The standard Aerostar has the 3.0 liter V6, so be sure that you are being offered the 4.0 liter V6 engine.
