I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. it starts fine but when I go to put it in drive or reverse, it won't move. what could be wrong

Have you checked the linkage that connect your shifter to the transmission? that might be broken, worst case your transmission needs to be rebuilt.

No I haven't where would the linkage be located at


Linkage is located on your car at the top of the transmission it will be a simple cable and it will connect to an arm at the top of the transmission, imattached a picture of a broken linkage give you an example
