I have a 04 taurus. I just got it the check engine light came on. Had it checked. The code on the machine said p0705 that's the tranmission range sencor. The auto part stores say it don,t come up as one. How do I find out and what all sencors could it be?

Need to have someone scan the TCM for transmission trouble codes. This will help narrow down the potential issues.

It is the transmission range sensor or what most people call the neutral safety switch needs replaced on the transmission. Easy and not expensive.

listen to tuff4x4. The switch is the most common problem. It's digital meaning that the computer is looking for a specific resistance in a specific gear and doesn't see it. BTW - in 30 years of being a ford tech, I've never seen a connector with a bolt through it loosen up. Unless someone left it that way.
