Possible power steering problem?

Asked by Jul 14, 2014 at 09:29 AM about the 2002 Ford Taurus SEL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus.  A few weeks ago I had the power steering pump replaced
because it was leaking.  Since then, my car is making a screeching noise when I start it
in the morning, and continues as I drive.  I've had it a a local shop and they told me my
alternator was bad.  Just last week, the alternator, tension pulley, idler pulley and belt
have all been changed and it is still making that God awful sound.  Can you help?

Your mechanic needs to pinpoint the area that the noise is coming from and not just replace parts. Could be the new pump/pulley? I see you replaced the same parts I would look at as culprits.

I'm not going back to him, he tried to charge me $480 to put the alternator on, a family friend said that was way to much. Is there any way to send a video I recorded of the sound?
