2002 Taurus recently started overheating at a stop. Last night shut off while running and spewed oily liquid on the ground
when it overheated it only did it at a
stop as soon as I took off it would
cool back down . It did this for a week
off and on. Then last night after I
parked it I left it running for a while for
the radio without thinking and it
suddenly make a noise then shut off
and spewed what looked like an oily
liquid on the ground. I haven't tried to
start it since . I want to fix it but have
no idea where to start.
You have to pinpoint the area where it is leaking and what the liquid is. Oil? transmission fluid, coolant? Overheating only once warrants a fix and oil change. Multiple time overheating the engine will cause the heads to warp/head gasket issues to serious problems like engine failure. Sp once you know what fluid it is, then we can detemine a course of action.
