2006 Focus AC shuts off when fan is turned up

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I think I've used the AC once or twice this season and it worked fine ... but suddenly yesterday, if the fan setting is on 1, the green light on the AC button lights up and the air blows cold (I think, but the fan is very weak at 1 so kinda hard to tell) but if I turn the fan up to 2 or higher, the green light on the AC button goes out and the air is warm ... Any ideas???

sounds like the switch itself is bad, used to be a resitor you could change to fix this problem.have this problem checked out by a machenic you trust.
