Hard to start?

Asked by May 22, 2016 at 03:45 PM about the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport
XLT 4.0, it was having trouble starting and
burning through gas. Realized the air filter
was incredibly dirty, to the point I assume
the previous owner never once changed it.
I put a new one in and I cranked right up.
Drive it around, did great. Got home and
shut it off and cranked again and now it's
hard to start again. Could it be the spark
plugs? Fuel Pump? Something? Lol

1 Answer

Since the air filter was never changed, other components probably weren't either. Change all the fluids and fuel filter, Spark plugs should be on the list too, with PCV valve.
