i have a 2006 explorer i,am starting to hear a gear noise in the front.seems to be on the drivers side ,anybody know what it is.
Could it possibly be a bearing noise from the hub assembly on that side? If your sure it's gear noise, then it can only come from the front differential, not uncommon on these, I had to overhaul my front differential on my Explorer when it hit 150K.
Check the fluid level in the front and rear differential and the transfer case.
Tennishoes, it was the bearing on the drivers side front. Thanks for your input.
Great, sounds like you dodged a bullet there. Much cheaper than a differential overhaul.
