my key won't turn
Get a real good hold of the steering wheel and move it right or left while turning the key. Sometimes the column binds the ignition switch when it locks.
Trans has it here. This usually happens in hilly areas when a person parks on an incline and turns the tires to rest against the curb so the car will not roll. Sometimes it takes a rather strong set of arms to turn the steering wheel to allow the key to turn.
Thanks Guys this is exactly what the problem was....Thanks so much you don't know how much your answers have helped a desperate situatuion...GodBless
what if you turn it hard both ways and it still won't turn? It's 13 F here...could ice keep it from turning?
I aimed a hair dryer at the steering column for about 20 minutes, and it finally turned. It was -1 and none of the other trouble shooting things had worked.
