My 2002 Ford Explorer had the ceiling power cable cut

Asked by James Nov 07, 2016 at 07:01 PM about the 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had my windshield replaced, the original OEM factory installed glass
was still on the car. While pulling the old windshield, the tech cut a wire
bundle that was running along the left side up into the overhead track
inside the car. The overhead lights no longer work, which I expected, but
my stereo and power windows are also not working. The tech said he
unplugged a wiring harness somewhere so that the cut wires wouldn't be a
problem.

So what does not work anymore? It sounds like the windshield may need to be removed and the wires spliced back together. I recommend soldering them rather than the crimp connections.
