If you have a water pump failure the vehicle will run hotter or you would be loosing coolant from the system. Could be the bearing on the idler pully going out. On the V6 they are on the top of the. The pulley is about the size of the mouth on a coffee cup, had a bolt through the middle which attaches to a bracket. It does not power anything. Check for excessive play when running, it could even show a wobble. Replacement is easy if that is the problem.
