Axel issues?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, my explorer was stuck in my driveway
the other day and my neighbor attached a
tow rope from the frame in the front to his
four wheeler. There was a lot of yanking to
get it out and afterwards my o/d off light
was going off. Now when I hit the gas my
cars tires spin but the car itself hardly
moves. What kind of problem do you think
this could be?

Are your tires bald? You may need winter tires if you have snow and ice.

It has 4WD but it doesn't work. I've been driving with the tires for a while so I don't think that is the issue. I think the tow rope was actually tied onto the axel

I cannot see any relationship between the towing and your traction problems. Put new tires on it and you should see a big difference. Fix the 4WD and you will see a Huge improvement.

Your car probably got stuck the first time because of the bald tires. Good luck to you.

Are the back tires spinning faster than the car is moving? If yes, it is a traction problem.
