2002 Explorer won't start after engine replacement

Asked by GuruLXLGL Apr 02, 2019 at 12:26 PM about the 2002 Ford Explorer Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just replaced the engine in my 2002
explorer. Everything is hooked up and the
reader doesn't detect any faults. The car
turns over but there's no spark. I'm told
this could be a security issue. I don't have
a key fob or a spare key. Any suggestions?

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Make sure grounds are good, engine ground--chassis ground, what ever. My info for your security system, one of the things it will do is disable your starter motor. So if the starter motor will crank will the engine? The computer and engine, are they compatible? One way to tell if computer is awake, turn on the key, check any sensor that uses a ref voltage, if ref voltage is present, so far so good. Are you missing anything besides spark? Engine cranking you have proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse? As far as spark, did you check primary voltage to coil, white wire with lite blue tracer, goes hot with key on and fuse protected. Use a test light and check voltage on that wire, key on.
